Creation of Poetry Continues

Rose

The feeling of

your love giving

you flowers or

chocolates on your

birthday.

The sound of

buzzing bees in

the flowers collecting

honey for you

and me.

The taste of

the chocolate

your love gives

you on your

birthday.

by Abbie

KiwiKiwi

Grey dark days like lightning in the sky

No leaves on the trees

The nights look scary

Street lights don’t work

No power

Zombies are biting everybody

The town is getting darker...

by Hemi

Orange

The gleaming sunrise on a summer morning

The bright tint of a high-visibility vest

The scaly skin of a large peculiar fish

The plumb circular juiciness of citrus

The big fuzzy ball of fluff called Garfield.

by Abbey

Orange

The glowing sun in summer

The bright sunset in Africa

An orange choc chip ice-cream being eaten

The brutal feeling of the sun when you get sunburnt.

by Maia

Black

The sound of thunder

The sound of lightning

The look of the night sky

The smell of new tar on the road

The New Zealand Rugby team

The look of outer space

The total blackout

The eclipse when it passes.

by Ethan

Boredom

The beating of fingers on a busy painting

The bustling of the marketplace

The colours brown and black mixed

A rope lying on a terrace.

More Poetry

Rose

The scent of love on

a sunny summer’s evening,

The scent of flowers

being given to a love

on Valentine’s Day

A girl blushing when

she gets smooched by

her love,

A person’s heart pumping

by the minute,

The joy of a little bird

finding food on the

ground.

by Emily

Happy

The feeling I get when I have fun

The feeling when my best friend comes over to my house

The feeling of getting something new

The feeling of Christmas morning when everybody opens their presents

The feeling when we’re on holiday and having fun.

by Liam

Gold

The willingness of a goddess or god

The powerfulness of a prime minister, president, or king

The braveness of a gladiator in a Roman ring

The goodness of golden wish roses

The noise of a paradise duck

The wonderfulness of a hot day breeze.

by Tom

Purple

The look of pretty hyacinths

The feel of the scary wolf

The smell of yummy berries

The taste of Doritos chips.

Blake's Poem

Yellow

Beautiful daffodils swaying softly,
The waterfall of nature sounding,
A whizzing bee's stripes standing out,
Little lego dudes heads and body parts being played around with,
The sun heating the solar panels by its rays.

Poetry

Room 12 has been focusing on poetry in our reading and writing this term.  To start out, we read Jacques Prevert's poem "To paint a bird's portrait."  The poetry written below was inspired by his poem.  Keep an eye on this blog (and this week's Wakari newsletter!) in the coming weeks for some of the incredible poems written by our class!

I should like to...
I should like to paint the sound of a graceful snowflake crashing softly on the ground,
To hear the earth spinning round and round till the day it stops,
To see the wonderful pictures on the walls trying to escape their frames,
To gaze at the orange ball that lights up my days.

By Emily

The man who wanted to swim in lava
I should like to swim in lava,
I should like to fly in the core of the earth,
I should like to walk on the sea,
I should like to paint a picture that talks to me,
I should like to walk in the sun without dying.

By Tiaani

I should like to...
I should like to paint the heart of a raindrop falling from the sky,
The scent of an icy ice cube in the freezer,
The pain of a path when someone steps on it,
The feel of victory when my cat gets fed,
The feel of a soft purple pansy in the garden,
The sound of a pizza when it gets eaten,
The pain of a chair when someone sits on it,
The feel of victory of a brave soldier.

The Wild Boar
I should like to see the thoughts of the wild boar,
I would like to kill the wild boar with my pinky with one touch,
I would like to eat the wild boar and not die or get very sick,
I would like to know how it felt to get a free piggy-back ride all the way back to the truck,
I would not like to die and taste my own fat sizzling in the frying pan!
